Henry County Sheriff - Division of Watercraft
The Henry County Sheriff's Office is responsible for patrolling the scenic Maumee River throughout Henry County. The Maumee River is utilized by many for recreation such as boating, water-skiing, and fishing. There is approximately 18 miles of navigable waterway for that purpose.
The Sheriff's Marine Patrol Division is comprised of 13 deputies who have received specialized training in marine patrol and the operation of water craft. The Marine Patrol Division is responsible for enforcing the watercraft laws of the State of Ohio, conducting safety inspections of various watercrafts, investigating watercraft crashes and complaints on the Maumee River, search and rescues, and ensuring the safety of all boaters.
The Marine Patrol Division accomplishes it's tasks through the use of a specialty equipped Boston Whaler boat and two standard Personal Watercrafts, the latter donated yearly by Honda East, Maumee, Ohio. The Marine Patrol Division strives to ensure that all people have a safe and enjoyable time while on the waterways of the Maumee River.
