The Henry County Special Deputies are sworn personnel of the Henry County Sheriff's Office, and some are OPOTA Certified.  Special Deputies work assignments throughout Henry County, such as the county fair, security for high school sport activities, festivals, local dances, etc. Special Deputies ride along and assist full time deputies with shift functions and road patrol. Sheriff Nye keeps a roster of Special Deputies on staff, ready for assignment, or call out at a moments notice.

Webster Dictionary defines "Posse" as  (posse comitatus)  The body of men that a sheriff  or other peace officer calls or may call to his assistance  in the discharge of his official duty.
